Norfolk House Road

Single-Unit Residential Project

On-Going

Kieran Wardle Architects is designing a self-contained house for a film-maker on a back-land site in Streatham.

The land owned by the film-maker is part of a larger Victorian house and currently forms a garden that backs onto a residential street. The site is currently occupied by a garage which will be removed and replaced by a compact two-storey home.

A key challenge for this site is for the building to take on the identity of the current small-scale non-residential building that currently forms the street-frontage whilst creating a clever, flexible house that has multiple well-design spaces that may adapt over time.

The house is designed to maximise the use and sense of space, running from the front to the back of the tight plot. The house will be built using a highly insulated timber-framed structure with large double aspect windows bringing daylight and views through the open-plan living spaces.
